What’s new at Lay Flatly

Changelog

New tools, thoughtful improvements, and better photos.
Every update, all in one place.

More ways to create. More detail where it matters.

Since our last update, we’ve added new looks, editing tools, and ways to bring your photos to life. We’ve also improved how your garments, colors, and textures carry through to the finished image.

New creative tools and looks

  • Bulk background changes. Change the background of up to 50 images at once. Use a studio backdrop or upload your own, follow the progress, and save the results to your Gallery.
  • More background control. Choose from studio background presets, keep the model’s original crop, and create portrait images in a 3:4 format.
  • Upload a complete outfit for Lay Flat. The new Outfit option lets you start with a complete look, alongside the existing one-piece and separates options.
  • On the Hanger. Create a clean hanger presentation against a beige wall, with optional text beneath each item.
  • High-Angle Street editorial photos. A new editorial preset brings overhead street-style photography to your products, with ten rotating looks and improved model and scene proportions.
  • More editorial scene choices. Choose a scene within individual editorial presets to give your images more variety.
  • Smile or no smile. Choose the expression for your model in both Model Showcase and Editorial Shots.
  • Side-view garment references. Add an optional side-view reference in Model Showcase to help preserve the shape and details of your garment in profile shots.
  • Overalls in Model Showcase. Create front and back views with better handling of the bib, straps, and layers worn underneath.

Scrapbook layouts and photo-to-video

  • Two Scrapbook styles. Choose a split lookbook or an Outfit Breakdown layout. Both keep your uploaded model and scene as the foundation of the look.
  • Captions your way. Use automatic captions, write your own, or leave captions off. Style previews help you choose the right layout before generating.
  • Cleaner Scrapbook compositions. Layouts now adapt to the number of items and the canvas, with fewer empty spaces and cleaner cutouts without blurred filler or white borders.
  • Animate a Scrapbook from the Gallery. Open a Scrapbook image and turn it into a Walk Toward Camera or Fit Check video directly from the image viewer.
  • Fan-Blade Outfit Change. Select three model photos from your Gallery to create a 10-second vertical outfit-change video with an overhead fan-blade transition.

More precise editing

  • Color Correct in the Gallery. Choose a garment color with a color picker or an exact hex value, preview it, and save the result as a new image. Recoloring better preserves fabric texture, highlights, and shadows.
  • Change the fabric, too. Clothing Swap can now transfer fabric texture, sheen, and sparkle from a garment or swatch reference as well as its color.
  • Better close-up references. Gallery edits make better use of close-up references for small product details, including jewelry and zipper pulls.

More faithful product photos

  • More consistent front, back, and profile views. Model Showcase better preserves the same garment across angles, including the volume and fit of larger sizes.
  • Better denim detail. Improved preservation of barrel-leg shapes, pockets, stitching, rivets, belt loops, and washes on both sides. Rolled cuffs better reflect the reverse of the fabric, with fewer invented frayed edges.
  • Truer colors and prints. Improved handling of white, black, and olive garments, footwear on tinted backgrounds, and printed or washed fabrics.
  • More accurate Clothing Swaps. Better handling of sleeve and top lengths, narrow hems, dolman and batwing sleeves, foldover waistbands, leg seams, and back ties. Bottom-only swaps better preserve how the original top is tucked.
  • Layered garments stay layered. Improved handling of twofer tops, layered sleeves, collars, and visible underlayers across views, with fewer stray labels, hanger tags, and unwanted seams.
  • Better accessories and editorial details. Improved jewelry details, hand proportions, and zipper-pull scale, plus more accurate footwear, sleeveless bodysuits, separates, and scene proportions in editorial photos.
